The belief

A Short folk tale:
Once there was a carpenter who had 2 daughters. Two year ago his elder daughter married a farmer in the village and the younger one got married few months ago with a potter. One day the man decided to visit their houses to know their well being. He went to the house of the elder daughter. Her daughter was happily married and her husband was a hard worker. He asked her daughter about her life and well being. The daughter replied "Father, I am happy with my life and family. You just need to pray for a good monsoon season this year so that the crop on which my living depends grows well".
The man left her house with a smile after knowing about her prosperous and happy life. He thanked god for it and wished that there is enough rainfall this year. From there the father went to visit his younger daughter. From a distance he saw her daughter helping her husband in his work. He saw that his daughter has quickly learned the art of making pots and now she can make beautiful pots. He saw that they have made enough pots and have left them in the sun to dry. The bigger vessels and pots are baked in the fire while the smaller ones are left in the sunlight to dry.
Daughter was delighted to see her father. The man asked her similar questions about her living and well being. The daughter in reply said “Father, I am thankful to you that you chose a very good man for me. I am happy with him. I just want you to pray to the lord that there shall be a weaker monsoon this year so that the rain does not wash away my clay vessels.”
**********************************************************************************
There are situations in life when you need something and you ask god to fulfil your wishes. That is the time when most of us find ourselves in difficulty. We call it our difficult struggling span of life. Also there are times in the life when a man can’t decide what is best for him. He cannot even ask the God for any favour. In such difficult times one can’t make endeavour nor he can sit waiting for something to happen. Such difficult times do not leave us with a choice. It is a lose-lose condition which makes us suffer. A bad thing not happened is a bad thing happened.
The problem lies in the way we pray to god. We are made to believe by the elders and the society that God is always there to help us out no matter how worse is our condition. We shamelessly ask God for the help without any hesitation. We think if we are good for others and has not committed anything bad in life (which I think most of us either believe or force ourselves to believe to lead a happy guiltless life) the god will take care of us. He will fight for us leaving us with obvious choices and path to lead. Obviously such things do not happen. Such believers in god shall wait forever for god to make a choice for them.
In contrast, a man who is true believer in God will start with a manipulated choice with a belief that God is with him and with the grace of lord he possesses the power to change the situation. Remember, a true believer in god is always strong no matter what the situation is and no matter what bad has happened to him. In every situation he shall believe that this is the best possible situation god has left him in and from now the path is easy enough to lead. For a believer no situation is too difficult and for a non-believer every situation is a “could have been better” situation.

Aspiration

Television Interviewer : “So Sir, who own the patent of the vaccine.”
"There is no patent. Could you patent the sun?” the American medical researcher replied.
The man who denied patenting one of the greatest works for the humanity was Sir Jonas Salk who invented the Polio Vaccine. “His sole focus had been to develop a safe and effective vaccine as rapidly as possible, with no interest in personal profit. “ [1]
It took fully devoted 7 years of his life to invent the vaccine which if patented could have made him the world’s richest man. “Until 1955, when the Salk vaccine was introduced, polio was considered the most frightening public health problem of the post-war United States. Annual epidemics were increasingly devastating. The 1952 epidemic was the worst outbreak in the nation's history. Of nearly 58,000 cases reported that year, 3,145 people died and 21,269 were left with mild to disabling paralysis, with most of its victims being children.” [1]
The text above is startling enough to raise a thought asking “what can motivate a man for such a long time that has no intention of making money and or fame”. I consider myself very weak in General Knowledge (or in any kind of knowledge) but still few other names of great personality surrounded my knowledge fringe and reminded me that it is not always something tangible or understandably or boastful that keeps you working. The great achievements come for those who are motivated by great thoughts; money is surely not one of them.
Swami Vivekananda (Narendranath Dutta) was son of a well known lawyer of Calcutta. Swami ji were a great scholar and he studied the works of David Hume, Immanuel Kant, Johann Gottlieb Fichte, Baruch Spinoza, Georg W. F. Hegel, Arthur Schopenhauer, Auguste Comte, Herbert Spencer, John Stuart Mill, and Charles Darwin, most of which during his adolescence. In 1881 he passed the Fine Arts examination and in 1884 he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree. [2]. All of us know who he was and what life he later led to give Indian spirituality and Hinduism a global face. Many of you are might not aware that after the death of his father, when swami ji were a student of Shri Ram Krishna Paramhans , he and his family went through a ailing poverty. Swami Ji were so concerned for his responsibilities for the family that many times thought of leaving all his ongoing learning and start working for the family. But his master Swami Paramhans knew the ache of his heart and he guided Swami Vivekanand accordingly. What happened later in his life is known to all of us. After finding the truth of life Swamiji wanted to leave his body as he found it too heavy to bear. His was at the door of moksha and he wanted to quit his life. But Shri Paramhans showed him the nobler and selfless path walking on which later on he spread his teachings for the well being of mankind. Such was the greatness of that man and his master. Was a man with the intellect and education of Swami Vivekanand unable to live a prosperous life? What if he was after money or his own salvation ?
Marie Curie, as all of us know was one of the greatest scientists who took research on radioactivity as her life. Marie Curie had a childhood full of agony and she strived for money during those days.
“She was known for her honesty and moderate life style. Having received a small scholarship in 1893, she returned it in 1897 as soon as she began earning her keep. She gave much of her first Nobel Prize money to friends, family, students and research associates. In an unusual decision, Marie intentionally refrained from patenting the radium-isolation process, so that the scientific community could do research unhindered. She insisted that monetary gifts and awards were given to the scientific institutions she was affiliated with rather than to herself. She and her husband often refused awards and medals. Albert Einstein reportedly remarked that she was probably the only person not corrupted by fame.” [3]

Such is the greatness of those who made a difference in the world. Others who are living are living for the livelihood not making livelihood for living. There is always a purpose of everyone’s life; if not understood by the person himself, that purpose will be left unsolved forever. One can work well for better money but no better money can bring the best out of a man. Great work comes out of a great purpose and great desire, not great money.

The God Thing

The ‘God Thing’ has always been hard to understand. They say you need to believe it first, you can’t go by the logics. I do not know how much of it is true but I surely believe that it is hard to understand god and the logics behind everything he (I use masculine gender for god because of the influence of hindu mythology) does. In India it is quite evident by the cut offs of the college admission that a student who want to pursue science must has got very good marks at the school while getting the admission in the other streams of study like commerce or arts is comparatively relaxed. Why is it so?
You see, all the laws of physics or the way two chemicals will react with each other is predetermined. The structure of human body, the illness of a human body was well defined by the creator. We do not make any rule in physics. They were there from the inception of the earth. Or they were true at the time of inception of the universe. We merely study them. Everything existed and will always exist; it’s just that we were ignorant enough not to notice them or to discover them.
With a little knowledge I came to know that it is only hindu mythology that believes in the rebirth. The Greeks do not believe in it. In our country it is like “My belief” and “Your Belief” otherwise when british came to India they began teaching “The Truth”. Well, believing your own truths or the truths your society or the clan you belong believe is quite cosy. You have your own way to live the life. Your belief are those which either you or your society deduced you to fit in. Know when you are dealing with the “God thing” either nothing is absolute OR the god is the only absolute. So it is very difficult to make the people believe on a common truth “The ultimate truth”. I am writing this for those people whose faith in god has started to deteriorate. Your understand when goes one step further you find yourself close to the god and on the next moment you find something very baffling which again turns your belief from the god. Hindu philosophy allows you to question god and the ethics of the religion but if you are thinking that you will turn towards the god when you understand his working properly then my dear you will be starting very old. Try to believe god without stopping the questions raised into your mind. This will make your journey fruitful. It is like traveling in an unknown city and moving taking turns on your intuitions and then when you once reach the destination you have a winsome smile over your face saying “You see, I was correct!”  This is similar finding the truth about the god once believing into him. You will end saying “I was correct all the time and you my lord were very kind on me”.

There is a life past everything !!

At that height i could not tell was it a cloud too near or was it dense fog. Last year during my trip to Himachal Pradesh, India, i was on the Solang peak. While it was enervating climbing even a distance of 100 meters the view into the valley took everything with a gust. It was snow everywhere and the mountain peaks far away were looking like a whittle out of ice. Mesmerized by the immaculate beauty of nature i walked away from my group of friends to get some time wondering over the thoughts in the mind of god when he created such beauty.

People there were quite, no one was interested in looking at the other. People were taking pictures randomly because everything around was too beautiful.

I asked to myself what was so relieving about the location? It was not only the whitest snow, greenest trees and yellow sun; the relief was in the mind. The location made me free from the strongest of bonds i have with the people in the world. The relief is in the solitude, friends can make you laugh, parents can care for you the most, a lover can understand you the most but it's only you who can understand the silence of your thoughts. Nature takes you back into the world where you were before birth. It makes you feel the completeness of ' 0 ', ending at the same point where you started from. We are destined to complete that cycle of birth and death. We were born in the bed, incapable of doing anything and most of us will end in the bed in the same condition.

That moment i realized why nature is called the mother nature.

Despite of having all the worries, thousands of pending work on the earth, i felt like a free bird. I felt the relief in the heart and just one thing came to my mind with the smile, "there is a life past everything and all of us are destined for few things".
